Should I spend more money?
Jun. 16th, 2005 02:42 pmI think I need a new video card. My computer's new, but I got a cheap-ass video card in it because I'm a cheapskate, and the performance (or lack thereof) shows.
I think I might just go and buy one tonight, after work. It looks like Circuit City, of all places, has the best price locally on a 256MB AGP GEForce 6800, which seems to be around the top of the line (the cheap-ass one I got was a 256MB AGP GEForce 5500).
I know I don't want to get ATI, because the difference in stability from what I've seen is night and day. My current card might be sorta slow, but at least you can see all the textures and crap (except for a few problems in EQ2 that were fixed by updating drivers) which was only true for, quite literally, half the games with the ATI card I have on my laptop (and updating drivers only ever made things worse).
Blah.
