I didn't find a party to go to on New Years -- it was the night of the scheduled GURPS game, and since Snowy bailed to try to find something more festive, we decided to play magic instead. Specifically, we tested out the 'Ur' expansion Lazar made (with some help from the rest of us, but mostly his work) using characters and places and such from the... four, was it? campaigns that we did on that world. Earlier, he'd printed out proxy cards for the whole set, and handed them out randomly, and we'd made some decks in our spare time...

So we played a couple games, and nerfed the cards that were ridiculously good (like all the high-power double-strikers; Lazar hadn't realized that double-strike worked against the defending player if they weren't blocked), and complained that 'oh, that's broken!' but didn't nerf the cards that were merely good, and such... then talked for a while about what powers certain colors were supposed to have, since, for instance, green didn't have any mana acceleration, black didn't have any discard, blue didn't have any counterspells, etc.

Anyway, Saturday I spent mostly playing Paper Mario 2. Well, most of Friday, also. And today. The game's damned addictive. It's just... slick. There was a big gap in the middle of Satuday where I played some impromptu D+D solitaire with Speckles on Furtoonia. D+D solitaire is where you make a character and take it into a randomly generated dungeon; it's as easy to do with two people as with one, although not nearly as fast. We fought some monsters, and dodged some traps, but didn't find any treasure, and ended up having to run away and hide from goblins. q:3 800 xp, though! We'll be the poorest second level characters in existence soon! Well, if we ever play again.

Today's non-Paper Mario segment was spent over at Tom's, where we weren't having a D+D game because we still didn't know what we were planning to play, and hardly anyone showed up. I only showed up just in case -- I wasn't sure we'd be doing anything. Eric and Josh also were there...

So we played some Magic -- tower magic, mostly. It's a variant Tom made up where you all play from the same deck, and can lay any card as a basic land of its color(s), and a few other rules too. The game was waaaay too defensive, though, and went on for a long, long time. I was the first one eliminated, though. Josh was second, on the same turn.

After that, I broke out my decks and we played a few duels while waiting for Tom and Eric to finish up... we had time for two whole games. v.v I won both, probably because Josh didn't know how to play my decks, but it's hard to say for sure, and the first one was REALLY FREAKING CLOSE. He found them amusing, though, which made me happy. n.n

Not much else happening. Tomorrow's my last day of freedom, then it's back to work for the new year. Sigh.
