More Solitaire...
Jan. 4th, 2005 12:53 amWell, I spent the day messing around with Speckles, playing old-school D+D solitaire == random dungeon exploration. I'm sort of the GM, although I'm running everything off random generation tables, and mostly playing a character of my own.
And I keep getting almost killed.
Speckles decided to play an Elan Psion, ditching his kobold sorcerer, and the psion is a lot more powerful, although not quite as reliable (since there's no magic-missle equivalent worth taking). He demonstrated that being an Elan means getting critted by a falchion-wielding orc is an inconvenience instead of instant death. I role-played losing my second animal companion in as many days by angsting over whether sending my companions into rooms ahead of me to act as trap sweepers made me a dark druid. We had a discussion about what exactly was involved in the 24 hour rite used to bind new companions, which I seemed to be performing on a regular basis, and whether it was as pleasurable for the animals as it was for the... NEVERMIND.
AND we actually found treasure this time. Sure, it was being wielded by an enemy, but a magic axe is a magic axe (is about 1000 gold after selling it and subtracting the fee to get it identified).
Next up in the periodic solitaire game... should we press our luck and venture on to... level TWO?
