Against my better -- or at least, stingier -- judgment, I signed up for Comcast's DVR thingie, because it was less expensive than Tivo, seemed to have a reasonable feature set, and people I knew who had Tivo reported the same sort of problems that I'd heard reported about it. I'm not sure if it was a good idea or not.

For being a DVR, it seems to work adequately. It tries to hunt down other episodes of serieses you want to follow, although I don't think it does it quite as well as Tivo (it doesn't look on other channels, and it's not clear if it automatically skips duplicate episodes, although you can have it record only first-run shows). I think it makes watching shows live slightly less convenient, though, since I have to worry if maybe it'll start recording on some others station and ask me which to continue with... I guess if I just don't care, or if I don't schedule recordings with conflicts, then it's okay...

Ah, well.
