I need keenspace back up, damnit.

Anyway, I've been playing AC2 in the mornings before work. I finally ran into a couple of actual other players, after maybe five hours cumulative, but had to log off before doing anything with them.

AC2 doesn't run very well on my machine. The normal framerate is fine, but the mip-mapping and adaptive polygon thingies are adjusted down so far that it's REALLY REALLY OBVIOUS when they shift. Plus the mouse cursor flickers and leaves scudge, making it hard to select things, and there are other random problems like corpses floating in midair or being unselectable.

This morning I killed the 'Keeper' of this vault. I'm guessing his unselectable corpse had a key or something on him, because I couldn't get through the portal he seemed to be guarding. Then before I'd even regen'd health, another keeper spawned and killed me.

[sigh] If the game would run properly (and it probably does, for people with non-crap video cards -- Sony said 'SCREW YOU HAHA LAMER' when I asked for updated drivers, in pretty much so many words) it would be a lot of fun, I think. The skills and leveling is interesting, there are mini-quests everywhere, etc...

As it is I'm not sure if it's worth playing at all, though.

bug... will never die...
will... to code... fading...

Ugh. Seriously, I did a quick scan ahead and at the current rate of progress I might be done with this by next tuesday if I realize significant efficiency gains due to having done mostly the same thing four times already and don't run into any significant complications. Otherwise it could be 'till next friday or later.

All on an issue that's being taken care of 'off schedule'. Sort of a 'bug: X feature doesn't exist' thing. Not that it would be any more pleasant to have had this scheduled as, say, a two day task and then take two and a half weeks on it.

Right now it's hard to work because a pair of ambulances just pulled up to the building and their lights are flashing in my eyes. It's really distracting. I sort of feel like marching out there and telling them to go rescue dying people somewhere else.

Tonight was Dan's Thursday D+D. Since Lance had to leave early and basically wasn't there, we just played through the random monster attacks encountered while travelling four days through monster-infested wilderness.

Afterwards, this being a game between co-workers, there was a loud argument about whose application was lamer.
