Pull! (AC2)
Apr. 1st, 2003 11:58 amOkay, I can vaguely understand people who want to keep the pace up and pull before other people have finished regaining mana... but this idiot ranger that Flyken and Terra were hunting with last night kept pulling when *he* had no *health*.
Since we also had a tendency to park on top of a major spawn point to rest after having accidentally pulled all the monsters at once, they kept respawning 'unexpectedly' on top of us, which made things even more exciting.
We were saved many times by the dillo's 5-second 'now I eat you' animation after killing someone (or if we were lucky, someone's pet), which gets stretched out even longer under the influence of Still Water.
I was reduced to using the Ugly Stick (as I call the Osteth soulbound staff -- MY GOD is it ugly) for most of the night in order to land my spells -- I have better weapons, but the Ugly Stick has a slight to-hit bonus, which matters more for a sorcerer than 30 more points of damage, in a group.
We were joined halfway through by a pair of tumeroks, an invoker and a high-level FI. The FI went off and did Moarsman and Burun Patrol while the rest of us kept looking for bogstalkers and generally hunted the slaughter plains. We only ended up doing one incursion, but the stuff around there is good xp, and with the xp sent back to us managed to go up two levels again.
Terra's going to catch up to Arona and Terrarry! Eek!
The most amusing part of the evening was when the invoker asked us to help him kill the guardian at the energy lattice mine so that he could practice potence management. The guardians are pretty tough, but after a long fight our group managed to take it out -- and it immediately respawned as an Order guardian and killed Flyken and Terra, who are neutral, and the overeager ranger who was order but attacked it. Those things hit *hard*!
It's annoying -- the website info said that neutral players were supposed to be able to mine from resources owned by any faction. And heal players from any faction. As it is, 'neutral' is just another faction in the list.
