Pokemon! I keep playing it whenever I have a few minutes at home. I don't know why raising a party of little monsters is so addictive...

My zigzagoon is a permanent member of the party, of course, because of its cheesy pickup ability. It's kind of sucky in that it's a normal pokemon with only normal attacks and a low attack rating, but it gets sand-attack, so it's not totally useless if I'm forced to fight with it. The whimsur is also pretty close to permanent because I loathe supersonic and sing, and it's immune...

That's the annoying thing about pokemon -- the RNG is heavily weighted against the player. Enemy pokemon get critical hits more often unmodified than you do if you use an ability to make them more common, they rarely miss with moves like 'supersonic' that you rarely hit with, and a paralyzed confused computer pokemon will act normally 75% of the time, compared to about 25% if one of yours is in the same state.

I'm not *sure*, but stat-modifiers seem to work better for the computer than they do for you -- you can howl against the computer's growl and you'll lose, but if you growl against the computer's howl you'll also lose.

This makes the best strategy 'one-hit KO the enemy with a powerful move before it can act', which isn't as interesting as the various ways to get a lock.
