Bug is TRULY From Hell...
Mar. 13th, 2003 07:19 pm...and it has my firmly in its clutches. I got the leads to buy off on it, but it caused a difficult-to-debug failure in the quicktest on the build machines.
Fortunately, this failure was simply not being *reported* on my machine, so I could actually debug it once I knew what to look for.
Unfortunately, it's not an easy thing to fix. Unfortunately, I have to fix it tonight so that tomorrow's builds will work. Unfortunately, since I broke today's build I'm the new hoser, until someone else eventually breaks something. Unfortunately, we just stopped the massive bug-fix push that tends to have a lot of checkins (and thus new hosers), so I might be stuck doing this for a while.
Unfortunately, I'd already started on my next task which may or may not even *compile*, and I don't really want to back it out so that I can test this fix by itself (although of course I'll be checking it in by itself).
So I could be here for a while.
There is one way to avoid being the hoser... I could be unavoidably absent from work until a new hoser came around. Anyone want to come by and break some bones that'll put me in the hospital for a couple weeks?
Just kidding. I have an HMO, so broken bones probably aren't covered.
