Marking Time
Mar. 1st, 2003 06:03 pmLast night was Chris' Shadake game. Lazar wasn't there, so Chris decided his character should be excluded from the action. Unfortunately, his character was the ship we were all on, so that meant no action. He tried to recover later, but didn't really succeed, although a couple individual people ended up doing something.
So, we finally got out of the big deathtrap spaceship and back to Blue, when what happens? Well, damned if I know. But nothing was working, and some psychic bastard starting attacking us, along with Blue's little avatar, so I tried to smash my way into engineering to put a stop to it, but it turned out he'd already gotten to me and I just ended up wrecking the door to my cabin. And Blue's Avatar.
Keh-riea or whatever her name is fixed the problem for real, though. Or, well, mostly. Blue was still out of it, but we could at least fly the ship around under manual control. Only Trent was kind of a crappy pilot without a computer to hold his hand, and we all nearly got killed just taking the ship somewhere to hide from the cops that were likely to be on our tail soon. Didn't want to even think about taking it into jump...
...eventually we got part of the computer back online, with Dru's help, and went back to Mars so that Isaiah could take on some more jobs carrying stuff around. Dru wanted to go back home, but I noticed she'd never paid us, so we went with her to make sure she didn't skip. Turned out she just wanted to scavenge what she could and flee the system with us.
We ended up on a long, dull trip to Napan... apparently Ran had some business there or something. I tried to find work along the way like Isaiah had, but a net search for 'assassins wanted on Napan' just got me a bunch of video-game info. So, I got to play a lot of videogames.
Ran built up Napan as being all cool and with stuff to see and crap, but it was a hellhole! Gravity worse than Earth! And the stupid captain landed the ship on the planet, so we were all forced to deal with it... I tried to find somewhere to submerge myself until it was time to leave, but they don't let otters into the bath houses on Napan, apparently.
All this time, Dru still hadn't paid us. I offered to maroon her on a small asteroid around an uncharted star if she needed more time that bad, but she just made more excuses... also asked the captain if he could make me a crewmember officially, since I was stuck on the ship protecting everyone. He said he'd think about it. If he doesn't, I'm going with plan A, mutiny. I could take him, easy, even without psi.
Of course, Ran went off by himself and we haven't heard back from him. I hope he's okay. Maybe one of us should have gone with him? Eh. Maybe someone who's used to being squished flat as a pancake. -.-
