terryclothWhen I'm annoyed about something and want to complain about it, I really don't appreciate people taking that as an excuse to push any sort of quasi-relevant difference of opinion on me as the 'solution' to my problem, or otherwise use it as an excuse to score points off me since I admitted weakness.
Aside from making you an asshole, that sort of thing encourages blind loyalty and toeing the party line on whatever subject you might otherwise be tempted to take a more balanced position on (given that you support one side or the other).
Or to be glib, being offensive makes people defensive.
