Sunday morning, I felt horribly ill and spend hours on and off the toilet, but by noon I was feeling a little better, and decided to go to the crossroads thing after all. Afterwards, we headed over to Jurann's place for games.

The first game we played was 'Dragon Inn', where you play one of a quartet of adventurers boozing it up in a bar, with the goal of being the last one (a) conscious and (b) not broke. The characters are 'slutty priestess', 'shifty wizard', 'shifty rogue', and 'violent femme'. It had some funny moments -- like when I countered 'Oh wait, that wasn't a healing salve, it was a contact poison!' with 'Good thing I was wearing my armor.'

Afterwards, we played a game of Settlers of Catan... I'd bought the 5-player expansion because there's usually more than four people who want to play, but it wasn't really compatible with my version of the game -- the tiles and cards were all different, and in particular instead of having four extra sea hexes to surround the board with, it had little puzzle-piece-like extensions for the solid frame that later versions had but my old version didn't. We made it work, though.

There were also a lot of times when the people there, who'd played it a lot online with the exact rules being enforced, had to inform me of little details that apparently had been house rules from when I was playing it with Tom. That sort of thing is VERY ANNOYING, especially when it ruins my strategy to win the game. Although I had a lot of bad luck at the end (NO resources generated for me that turn except for brick) and wouldn't have won anyway, as it turned out.

The rest of the weekend was spent not playing the WAR closed beta preview weekend thing, because I wasn't eligible, as an employee of a company that developed or published games. Hopefully they'll take that clause out of the open beta phase.

So since I couldn't play WAR, I mostly played EVE. I got fed up with my level-2 agent constantly giving me 11-jump courier missions into lowsec space, and did some mining into Giant Secure Containers anchored in the deserted asteriod belt in that system. I singlehandedly cleared about 20km of belt (while watching TV and chatting on Spindizzy) and made... like... 5 million ISK. Half of it from salvage. I'm pretty sure that I was using a *reasonably* efficient single-person mining setup (I was using a cruiser with a mining bonus and three lasers, using the missile hardpoints to defend against rats without having to stop mining, mining into cans that I emptied out in an industrial) but since I'm not actually specced for it, I make a lot more money doing missions.

Eventually I got bored with that and decided to find a new agent. This meant finding a new corp and starting from scratch with level 1 missions again, since ALL the agents for Republic University were 'advisory', meaning they gave lots of courier missions. Someone on the Republic Military School corp chat channel suggested doing the Brutor Tribe, so I packed up all my frigates and used the industrial to haul them to Rens. That took HOURS, since they were scattered in Earwik and Illuin and Hadaduago, and I still have to get the other destroyers and cruisers at some point (I did go back for one of my salvaging destroyers).

But the brutor tribe's agents do seem to give mostly kill missions, and Rens' market is a lot better than Earwik's was.
