We played some Shadake last night, fighting and possibly killing Krttk, although it's hard to tell for sure. Didn't get much past that, though, because Kat was really hot and tired and it was a good place to stop.

The lich wasted no time leading the party to Krttk's chamber. The fate-threads around the chamber were so dense that astral sight couldn't even see past them, but the spears seemed to be protecting them at the moment at least.

Kit tried to challenge Krttk to explain its strange, murderous behavior (it was hardly the only guardian acting strangely, and any insight would have been helpful towards solving the overall mystery of what the hell was going on) but Krttk apparently couldn't, or wouldn't talk -- instead, it tried to douse them all with sprays of water. Highly magical water. Kit tried to catch it in a bucket and Bob tried to drink it, the others dodged...

Kit was the first to get truly doused, and when he tried to use a fire spell to evaporate the water on him, he discovered that it was too late -- he'd been cursed by the water, and now everything he did would fail. BADLY. And when magic fails badly, it's really bad. He set himself on fire (despite his fire protection ring), entangled everyone in the room (instead of just the spider), and got washed into a different room entirely when he failed to hold on as a torrent of fountain water spewed out all over everyone.

Meanwhile, Cho and Bob and Leen and Mira and the Lich were beating on the spider with physical weapons -- Krttk didn't want to use fate to dodge because the Lich (for one) was immune to fate entirely, so it was dodging physically which it was less adept at. Also, its feet were glued to the floor by the entangle spell. It retaliated in various water-related ways (although no one but Kit got cursed to fail), and then by shattering everything nonliving and nonmagical in the room. Which got some of the party's equipment, and entirely disintegrated Cho.

It also shattered one of the magic bottles in Mira's backpack (it had a chance to affect magical items) and let out six freedom fighters from another world, who started shooting up the place with casters. Casters that weren't working quite right. Eventually, they ended up accidentally nuking the room with physical plasma and spiritual aura destruction, which *looked* like it killed Krttk, although Cho (the only one seeing astral) had to run away to avoid his own destruction, and didn't see Krttk die.

Of course, through this Kit was in another room with the fish, who'd been riding him. The fish suggested that if he could remove Kit's curse just for a second, maybe Kit could draw enough power to override the fates. Kit decided, unwisely, to try this plan, and of course the spell critically failed. He'd known it would, and had used enough power that technically it did what he'd asked even as he flubbed it, but in the process he burned his kitsune soul down to one tail! Of course, it had only seemed to have two to start with, so most of the damage had already been done, but he was still extremely annoyed. Especially when he discovered it was pointless, since by the time he got the spell off the freedom fighters had already accidentally destroyed everything with their malfunctioning casters.

The fountain water, which had been diverted into Krttk's room, was now sealed off behind a wall of glass, and the party's wood and ice creations were ineffective at breaking through. Cho (who was there in spirit, if not in quite as stable of a body) scouted around and saw that the fountain on the top floor was no longer dry -- so they could go back up to get the fountain water.

They decided to backtrack all the way through the dungeon instead of taking the exit right nearby, since the map said 'here there be dragons'. While they were doing that, fate threads reattached themselves to them, annoyingly -- Kit wanted to go yell at the smaller crystal spider with the soup about that, but before they got to the throne room they saw Adam (the crazy elemental-thing that they'd thought they'd stranded in deep space) torturing it to death... and decided to go visit the fountain first.

Bob had already drunk some of the water during the fight (and gotten Serendipity), and Mira and Leen decided to drink from it now. Oh, and Cho had drunk from it spiritually while astral. Kit decided to hold off, since the last fountain had been bad for him. Instead he filled a mezukuma box with the water for later... or for selling, since their money had been shattered by the damn spider.

The last thing before leaving was to deal with the dragon's lair. Mira was sure the dragon was long dead, a victim of Krttk's murderous tendencies, and Kit agreed that it would be worth checking out. Bob and Cho were both very against having anything to do with even a potential dragon, after the experience they'd each had with Mirnath. The eventual compromise was to send Kit as a sacrificial lamb/scout.

The dragon was, indeed, long gone -- only copper pieces and wood remained of its horde, even (although with all the mezukuma boxes they still had, they could take it all with them easily enough). Mira searched around, certain she could find something they'd missed, and found a magical collar. Dragon-sized. Presumably, it would enslave the dragon it was put on, since it was hooked up to a nonmagical and old and ruined bridle and saddle. How would they get a dragon to wear it, though?

The game wasn't blah -- I'm blah because I ate too much. Oooog. x.x
