Titan Quest
Feb. 14th, 2008 01:55 pm...yeah, it's an old game. A Diablo II clone. It's a pretty good diablo II clone, though, with (2dish) graphics that still look reasonable, unlike Diablo II itself which looks like utter crap because of its low resolution. Not as pretty as Hellgate London, but not as crashy, either. I've been playing it when I get tired of CoH every night, for variety.
Last night, I was starting to get really frustrated with it, though -- this optional boss had a cheap one-two combo where it used a wide-area stun power, followed by a very slow, pinpoint, effectively insta-kill spell. And every time I died to it (this happened about six times, even though I figured out what was going on after the second) I had to run back across like five different areas, because it came just *before* a rebirth fountain...
The way to beat it was just to dodge around wildly and not let it get close, until it fired off its stun thing, then turn and beat on it for a little since the stun wasn't very quick to recharge. Easier said than done, though.
This is with my druid (nature/storm) who's been working out pretty well. Not as cheesy as the character I had back the first time I was playing it (earth/spirit is soooo cheeesy) but still powerful enough.
I've been trying to come up with a melee character I like, but so far no luck. defense/rogue turned out to be kind of a pain, so I was thinking warfare/hunting -- except that the attack speed passives from those two sets actually don't overlap at all. Still, maybe the hunting passive with spear and bow, and warfare for onslaught and berzerk? Or... dare I say it... dual-wielding spears?
