I picked the worst place to park my car last night. A huge, thick layer of icy snow fell on the parking lot, and my car was one of the only ones that *didn't* get hit by the morning sun to melt it off -- the car right next door was pristine, but mine was covered in a thick layer of ice that took a while to scrape off. A while, and some pain, as the little mini-ice-cubes went flying everywhere, including all over my hands and up my sleeves.

Then, I forgot about how part of my normal route to work turns into an icy slalom of death, and had to turn around and take another route. Combined with the horrible traffic that's the *reason* the not-normally-icy slalom of not-normally-death is part of my normal route, it took me a looong time to get to work.

Luckily, half the people at work are away at Macworld, and the other half are snowed in in their mountain fortresses. Well, not really luckily, it's not like anyone really cares if I'm late anyway. I'm not paid by the hour.

The only other possibly-amusing thing to bitch about is my answering machine. I've been getting into the habit of going longer and longer between checking messages... and last night's array was a good example of why:

You have 7 new messages. First message:
"...vehicle warranty has expi--" Message deleted. Second message:
"...not too late to renew the warr--" Message deleted. Third message:
"Click. Click click." Message deleted. Fourth message:
"...vehicle without valuable warrantee pro--" Message deleted. Fifth message:
"...consolidate your debt. User debt solu--" Message deleted. Sixth message:
"*heavy breathing* Click. Click click." Message deleted. Seventh message:
"...last chance to protect your vehicle with--" Message deleted. End of messages. Low battery.

Yeah, I tried signing up for the 'no call list' again. The first time, they said 'sorry, we can't add you to the no call list'. This time I signed up on the web, and they said they'd send a confirmation e-mail... which never arrived. Every time I try, the number of telemarketing calls I get doubles -- I think it's a scam.
