The weekend, like I said earlier, was spent with family. We didn't do a whole lot, but we didn't *try* to do a whole lot so it was less stressful. There was one bit where Anna blew up at Alex for not finishing adding chapters to the holiday video DVD they'd been planning to give out.

Anna (setting the trap): "He spends about 12 hours a day playing video games."
Alex: "Oh, come on, it's nowhere near that. Maybe two."
Anna: "And yet, he can't finish adding chapters like he said he would two months ago."
Alex: "I didn't get around to it. Besides, I tried doing it two days ago but the time I was going to spend on it was wasted re-encoding it because you'd made last-second changes."
Anna: "You had TWO MONTHS but you won't do the one thing, and now you won't even accept responsibility."
Alex: "Look, I'm sorry."
Anna: "Why can't you even admit that you were wrong? You spent 12 hours a day playing video games when you should have been doing the ONE THING I asked you to do..."
Alex: "What are you trying to accomplish here, Anna?"
Anna: "I just want you to admit you were wrong and apologize."
Alex: "I did apologize, just now."
Anna: "That wasn't an apology."
Alex: "So... what would be an apology?"
Anna: "'I'm very very sorry.'"

At that point Alex left the room. They talked things over later, though, and I think they forgave each other or something, I don't know. They weren't still angry half an hour later anyway.

But anyway, the visit ate up the entire weekend, and Monday was spent reading webcomics and going and doing errands I normally do on weekends, like getting the week's comics. I also went out to get a new laptop, but instead just ended up getting a wireless router. Some cheap netgear thing that cost $30. The thought was, there's no point getting a new computer if I don't have a router, because I won't be able to transfer files easily. And if router setup is hard, I'll have this new computer I'm dying to use but can't. So I *have* to get the router set up, first...

Router setup isn't hard. It's sort of, you know, automatic.

So, today I went out to buy a laptop for real. Only Best Buy had only two kinds of laptops for sale:
(1) $800 pieces of crap that were all missing at least 80% of the things I was looking for.
(2) $2000 Sony Vaios that were only missing like 20%. I was *tempted*, but my last Sony was not the best computing experience in the world.

So I went to Dell and priced out the computer I actually wanted... which came to about $1500. x.x I decided to buy it because, well, whatever. I can afford it, and whatever I decide to do is going to be a mistake -- that's the one unchangeable rule.
