Trepidation

terryclothSomeone invited me to come over to their house sometime... 'just call after work, but it should probably be okay to come over'. It's been, like, three weeks, and I haven't been able to muster up the courage to call. Even on days when I really did feel like going over and playing magic or something. At least three different times, I've picked up the phone, and then not dialed the number and just gone and played CoH or something.
I don't feel any particular emotion about it, I just can't do it. It's weird. Magical mind control, maybe?
Anyway, I've basically gone back to City of Heroes... Guild Wars didn't stay interesting for long. The constantly increasing difficulty level just wasn't very much fun, especially since the effectiveness of your character is pretty well capped by the 8 skill limit. "Oh good, I got a new skill! If only I actually had some use for it, oh well."
Mostly, though, it's the forced teaming that *every* MMO gets at high levels, really. Even CoH has its share of missions that can't really be soloed, which is one big factor making my high level characters stagnate. My level 41 villain is stuck on 'Betray Ghost Widow', my level 40 hero spent a couple hours exploring the shadow shard and lamenting its unrelenting waves of Hazard-Zone (8-man) spawns that made hunting there not a real option. Which sucks especially since it has all kinds of cool otherwise.
Although the gravity fountains *are* as horrid as everyone says, and usually take several tries to get to work right, even after you figure out the right combination of travel powers to get THIS one to work. There was one that I couldn't figure out at all -- Sprint was still too slow, but Super Speed was way too fast, and it wasn't a matter of having to aim left or right slightly like the other tricky ones.
Oh, and in Pokemon, I'm working my way through the Victory Road -- I *will* finish this one, honest!
