Sometime after I decided to give up on the DSL -- not sure exactly when, but if I want to disclaim all responsibility for the outcome I have to claim Sunday after 2pm -- I noticed that the answering machine was blinking. Thinking that it might be Earthlink calling back to pester me more, I ignored it until sometime Moday.

It was... someone Indian. Saying... something garbled, but urgent sounding. Definately Earthlink. No, wait, did they just say 'package'? Yes, yes, after listening to it four or five times, I was sure it was from the apartment manager (I heard 'Easton Court') and about a package. It sounded urgent. But why hadn't they just left the package at the door like all the others?

Of course, the leasing office was closed Monday, for New Years. It was also closed Tuesday, for god knows what reason. This management company is not very good about keeping regular office hours.

I managed to catch them this morning, though, and got the package. It turned out that it wasn't 'urgent' so much as 'perishable', and they hadn't left it at my door because it wasn't addressed correctly, but it had my name on it at least. My grandparents had sent me a 3x3x3 cube of fruit.

So far, I've eaten one pear. It was good, but the middle was pretty overripe -- that why I started with the pears, they were the ones that seemed likely to rot first. The apples and oranges are sitting in the fridge.

I don't see how I'm going to eat an entire 3x3x3 cube of fruit, though. x.x
