Last night we had a session of Lazar's world-of-time themed shadake games. We reached our objectives, but didn't really accomplish them.

The darkhound (as Hariim called it) sank its teeth into Fezzik's wall of air. Normally, he might have been able to hold it off, but between the surprise and the continued degradation of his connection to the one power deeper in the maze, he lost it, and the horse-sized slavering dog got through.

Fezzik backed off to use his bow, while Kanwei and Sophia engaged it in melee, Hariim threw daggers at it, and Ash (the crazy guy) readied one of his strange weapons. Sophia cut deeply into it with her sword, and then Fezzik managed to peg it with an arrow imbued with a large amount of electricity which zapped it thoroughly, but it didn't die... and Ash pointed his weapon at Fezzik screaming "What was that?!"

"I'm a feriphal, I *zapped* it," Fezzik replied. Another blow by Sophia managed to finally force the horrid thing to collapse and start to dissolve, but the other one they'd heard suddenly rushed at them from the corridor. Sophia reacted quickly, firing a large beam of energy from her sword at the dog... Fezzik leapt to the side to avoid being hit by that, then scuttled away behind the party for cover, BARELY avoiding getting bitten on the leg. Between Sophia and Ash, the second one was soon dissolving as well.

The near misses Sophia and Fezzik had suffered left horrid acidic dog-drool all over their armor. Sophia's 'kili-hide' leather endured it well enough, but Fezzik's chain got a big hole eaten in it. It was probably a very good thing neither of them had actually been bitten.

Fezzik was exhausted now, and despite the occluded connection to the source, put up another wall of air, this time a stronger but smaller bubble entirely surrounding the party. This proved to be a futile effort, as he didn't have to go far before it petered out as well... along with the trivial light spell they'd been using to see, although Kanwei had a lantern as backup.

The magic died inside a room surrounding a largish pit, which felt sort of like the opposite of a steading -- still cut off from the one power, but nauseating and horrible instead of calm and peaceful. Looking down into the pit, they saw many levels of similar ledges carved into the sides, down as far as they could see... and a dead nimune chained up suspeded in the very middle. Recently dead, apparently of starvation. Worse, perhaps, were the pained moans of other prisoners who weren't yet dead, from deeper in the pit.

Regardless of the thoroughly horrid nature of the pit, this seemed like the best way to get down to level seven, so the headed down. Hariim flew down carrying Fezzik, while Kanwei attached a rope to let himself, Sophia, and Ash climb.

Unfortunately, the climb was not uneventful -- they were attacked by a giant bat, that spat sizzling acid on the rope, forcing Kanwei to cut it to avoid losing the whole rope. Now, cutting the rope that the three were in the middle of climbing was a dangerous maneuver, but Ash and Kanwei were near ledges they could grab, and Sophia was expendable. Okay, okay, make that 'impressively acrobatic'.

The bat kept coming back around, but Sophia and Hariim managed to drive it off, while Kanwei climbed up onto a ledge and Ash, well, plummeted to the bottom of the pit, which fortunately was cushioned by a shoulder-high pool of bat guano. What luck! He found the stairs, and headed back up to rejoin the rest of them.

During the fight with the bat, Fezzik had backed off far enough to relight his light spell, illuminating one of the still-living prisoners. Activating the pen-knife of doom was easy enough for him to manage it *almost* all the way up to the chains, and Ash was able to pry them loose when he cut notches as close as he could manage. When only a few chains were left, they were able to swing the prisoner away from the pit, far enough for Fezzik to cut the chains off and heal the horrible injuries (the chains were pegged through his wings, and tight enough to cut off all circulation to his other extremities) that otherwise would have left him crippled.

Ash demanded to know what was up with that, though. "Come on, are you a witch?"

"Well, I'm more a wisdom, since I was trained by a wisdom, although I don't have a village... a journeyman wisdom, maybe? Witches are all darkfriends, right? So I can't be a witch. I've never sworn allegiance to anyone."

Anyway, they continued on searching the depths, Ash looking for 'Count Morgulous' who was a 'vampire' (a fictional creature that couldn't even theoretically exist) and the rest looking for the treasure. "Remember, if you fight the vampire, use the stakes I gave you," Ash reminded them. After searching a couple levels, they found a throne room on the seventh floor down in the pit that looked like the end of their journey -- the ter'angreal were there off in a room to the side, while Ash was certain the vampire he was tracking was behind the doors behind the crudely carved throne.

Sophia decided that she'd go with Ash to help him fight the vampire, since she recognized the name -- she didn't tell anyone, but it was the name of her father. Her *dead* father.

So Fezzik and Kanwei and Hariim were off in the side room agreeing that it would probably be a bad idea to step through the magical doorway sitting in the middle of the piles of loot, when Ash kicked down the door and the vampire started kicking butt.

It disarmed Ash twice as he tried to draw his strange weapons, and almost managed to disarm Sophia as well, although she was just barely skilled enough to keep her grip. Fezzik, by then, had gotten his bow out, and recognized that Sophia's armor was kili hide, which according to the legends (it wasn't a *real* material, but she seemed to be wearing it anyway) it was highly resistant to fire as well as acid. So he exploded a largish fireball on the ground at the count's feet.

Sophia was, indeed, protected from the blast by her fireproof armor, but somehow the count managed to dodge all the way out of the fireball, ending up right in front of Fezzik, looming down at the tiny feriphal. One slash of his sword maimed Fezzik's right arm horribly, preventing any further bow attacks, and then while the others stood around trying to protect themselves as best they could, fearing to attack, Ash blew a hole in the count with one of his strange weapons, the exit wound from the cannon shell splattering the vampire's heart all over Hariim's face.

Unfortunately, since the cannon was not a stake, this didn't stop the vampire. Fortunately, it scared him off.

Unfortunately, Fezzik was still rattled from combat (he'd put up a huge cloud of mist before realizing the vampire was going to run, so no one was sure if the vampire was coming back) when he tried to heal his arm, and instead of drawing on saidar, managed to pull up a huge hunk of saidin. He realized his mistake in time to avoid immolating himself by attempting to heal with it, but he lost control of the power, sending bolts of lightning zapping everything in a 100-yard radius. This included the party (although they managed to dodge out of the way), the vampire, all the bats in the pit, and the treasure they'd come to collect, which was set on fire. For 30 seconds, Fezzik struggled to control the lightning shooting everywhere, before finally managing to convert it to a massive solid air spell to smother the flames. And the party, although they could hold their breath longer.

They found 15 ter'angreal, two crates full of ancient pots and such that someone had probably thought might be ter'angreal, and a bunch of weapons, jewelry and coins. Normally, this would be a very good haul. It was probably about 5% of what *had* been there before Fezzik went all pyro, though.

"Maaaybe you should go get that training," Kanwei suggested.
