What... the... heck?
Jul. 13th, 2006 11:38 amSunday night, Lex caught me up on a session of his game I'd missed. Then, Tuesday, we had an aborted session that never really went anywhere... or maybe they started playing again after dinner. I left after the 'food break' stretched on for an hour and a half.
After discovering that, yes, the authorities were on their side, the thing in the meteor turned out to be a giant hydra-snake creature that was eating miners, and was easily dispatched by shooting it a lot.
So some of the party returned to Riku Prime to collect their payment, and somewhat to their surprise it turned out to be 500 million credits each. Riku herself was given a 65 billion credit battlecruiser complete with an expert crew... the rest of them had more modest space fleets -- a strike cruiser for one person, 300 fighters, freighters and scouts stored in credit-card format for another.
Then they flew out to talk to this anti-alliance QZ group about possibly getting some answers. Chit rigged the building to blow up if anything went wrong, but nothing really did -- it turned out one of their party *was* an alliance spy, but he quit the alliance on the spot and instead of being killed was welcomed into the conspiracy.
Their mission was to go find a super-weapon and, perhaps, the remains of the last couple parties sent out to get the super weapon. On the way out of the neutral system they'd had the meeting in it, Kitsunetaur started dropping asteroids on a secret alliance base on one of the planets, unmolested by any sort of system defense or cops or anything.
