Moonfire

I didn't intend to spend all day playing City of Heroes...

In the morning, I was on an absurdly awesome team. Well, not really, but we were fighting +7s to me so I got truly absurd amounts of xp -- 14 bubbles (almost a level and a half) in two hours. When I came back from taking a break to get new comics and food and such, I got on a much, much less awesome team that didn't really get me much xp at all, although they eventually got enough to push me almost up to 28.

After most of the team left (because the tank was being a whiny bitch), the small remnant team decided we wanted to do the moonfire task force, because... well, because it was there, I guess. We did a little levelling with normal missions to get the lowest member of the group up to 23 (the cutoff), then... discovered we needed 6, not 4 as we'd thought.

So we invited three random people. Somehow, adding three random people turned a competent if badly-levelled team into a complete disaster. Mainly because we added another tank, who wanted to herd vampires onto an ice patch for a fire controller, an energy blaster, and two nova-happy peacebringers to take down...

Yeah, that didn't work. Everyone died. The tank got whinier and whinier until eventually he quit the team. After that, things worked out fine, although not as well as when we only had the four of us -- the blaster didn't comprehend 'get close to an enemy so that I can heal you', and the scrapper was a total leroy jenkins. Plus, the two peacebringers kept randomly -- and without telling us until afterwards -- switching over to having their grade-school children playing their characters.

So we died a lot, but we eventually completed the task force, after only four hours. x.x Near the end we more or less knew what we were doing, but just kept screwing up. People were really impatient about waiting for people coming back from the hospital -- I missed most of the final AV fight because they wouldn't wait for me. It was nerve wracking trying to run through the twisty tunnels while watching all their health bars dropping precipitously... since I was the only healer... then getting to the fight and realizing that only one person was in melee with the AV anyway and I couldn't help the rest of them.

I got the 'slayer' and 'silver bullet' badges, though, so afterwards I ran around looking at plaques to get 'pupil' and, thus, the Atlas Medallion, which gives a little extra base end (which means it also improves end recovery). Flamekin really needs more endurance, so hopefully that'll help...

Final prognosis: Tanks are whiny bitches. I'm sick of everyone I teamed with today and never want to team with any of them again. But I'm glad to finally get a stat-granting accolade on one of my characters... this was the first time. Which is sad.
