May. 23rd, 2006 12:06 pmWell, I finished Kingdom Hearts II. I was playing on standard difficulty and didn't finish the journal, so I guess I got the 'bad' ending, but it seemed pretty good to me, and certainly lasted MORE than long enough. x.x
The game outdid itself with final boss fights, too. Reminded me of Skies of Arcadia.
reaction sequence
waves of enemies with reaction to dodge an instakill
waves of enemies with a boss to beat on in between
reaction sequence
normal boss fight
FAKE ENDING
gummi-ship level
normal boss fight with Agrabah-style flying sequences
FINAL CONFRONTATION CUTSCENE
really hard (but normal) boss fight
ENDING ANIMATION
ANOTHER ENDING
CREDITS, with cutscenes in the background showing what happens to various people
YET ANOTHER ENDING, with cliffhanger
All that before work. x.x Maybe, in retrospect, I shouldn't have tried to do all that before work.
Last night, I had a great time on City of Heroes playing Cinnamon, my old blaster. I really love Defiance, it's totally the best inherent. Except maybe fury and containment... I can't count assassination, since it plays like a function of the Hide and Placate powers more than like a real inherent.
Playing her and noting her endurance characteristics, I think I'm going to have to pass on Chilling Embrace, though -- she only just barely doesn't have endurance problems now, and I don't want to add another toggle to potentially change that.
I also set up a bind that toggles stealth off when I turn on hover, and vice versa. Stealth has a -speed component that Swift overcomes, but it's really noticeable when hovering -- and I only hover in the middle of combat or when travelling, neither of which are times I need stealth. I have to be on the ground to activate ice patch, which I do at the start of every combat since it doesn't break stealth unless someone slips on it. "powexec_name Hover$$powexec_name Stealth" does the job -- toggling off a power can be done in the middle of activating another power, so you can put both operations in the same bind like that. If neither is on, it activates stealth.
At any rate, despite it being a lot of fun, there were some stupid pick-up-group tricks:
I also got to fight Knives of Artemis for the first time. As far as I can tell, the only dangerous thing about them is their caltrops... and if you hover, you can ignore those. Well, they also have an ungodly perception range, so you can't really sneak up on them. I kept hover on for that whole mission, since the tank hardly needed my ice patch.

- "Hi, I'm a scrapper with no shields and the medicine pool. Sk to me and we'll do my missions on invincible!"
- "Hi, I'm a level 49 empath so desperate to do my own missions that I'll join a level 33 team and exemplar!" "But... now we can't do your missions." "But it's TIMED!"
- "Wow, lot of enemies here right around the corner." "Where?" [enemies attack and instakill the non-stealthed teammate] "There."
