Oh, I forgot, games!
May. 15th, 2006 02:54 pmCoX == City of Heroes this weekend, levelling K'Teri, my highest level and favorite hero, an Earth/Rad controller. She's... pretty damn powerful, although I can see some flaws in her current spec. At one point I was hunting council in Bricks and not finding any reasonable groups, and so decided to attack a group of about 10 red minions. Somewhat to my surprise, I managed to actually kill them all without dying, although it was touch and go -- that's about the limit, I think.
Of course, my blaster and corruptor could also have both handled that spawn, and done it a lot faster -- Cinnamon has fire's signature alpha strike (aim, build up, fire breath, fireball), while Aci has his nuke sequence (Aim, Neutron Bomb, Irradiate, Atomic Blast), either of which will take out red minions. K'Teri's the only character I have that can *tank* a spawn like that, though. }:) I punched them all to death with Air Superiority.
I did Manticore's TF on Friday night, then Citadel's TF Sunday. They were both pretty similar -- Manticore was a dozen repetitions of 'defeat all Crey in lab', Citadel was a dozen 'defeat all Council in cave'. Which makes them more like the hated Synapse 'defeat all Clockwork in warehouse' and less like the hated Positron's mishmash of enemy groups.
Note: all the basic CoH TFs are hated, for good reason. Although this time, both groups did really well and got them done in a reasonable amount of time (~3 hours).
The CoV SF that I did was *so* much better variety-wise, and I've heard the newer Striga and Croatoa TFs are also good. But of course it's the basic ones you need to collect for the 'Task Force Commander' accolade. }:)
Lowlights of going back to K'Teri #1, evil missions: 'rescue stage magicians' getting the subtitle '21 magicians to rescue' once I got inside (noooooooo!), followed by 'defeat all circle of thorns in area (board train)' that turned out to be a three-parter (although the second part was a normal mission and I haven't done the third part yet). Defeat all: board train is one of my pet peeves.
Lowlights of going back to K'Teri #2, people who send tells instead of invites: 'hey, you interested in a mission group?' coming while I'm finishing up an overly long mission, already past my bedtime. I was in the middle of a big fight and it took about ten minutes to finish, so I didn't reply... which of course put the person into evil stalker mode 'hey, you there?'
Me: 'Not for long.'
Them: 'Then maybe you should turn your LFT off so that people don't waste their time sending you a tell and waiting for a reply.'
Me: 'Maybe you should take silence as 'no' instead of being annoying.'
Them: 'Silence could mean a lot of things, so I need to keep asking until I know if you want to team or not. Turn off your #$%^& LFT tag!'
Me: 'I have no obligation to respond to every stupid tell. Go %$&*^# yourself!'
By then I'd sold enhancements, so I just logged off, before it could get *really* nasty. }:/
