Well, I definately have a cold, which I almost certainly caught from my family, who all had colds over the weekend. Sigh.

The tax situation progressed apace. Tom didn't know the number I needed, but knew who'd know, and gave me their number. I got in touch with them, and they gave me the number. And pointed out that I couldn't possibly have the 2005 K-1 because they hadn't sent it yet -- they were waiting for the fund manager to get back from vacation. He was expected back in two weeks.

This means they're planning to mail the essential tax information on *April 5th*. WTF?

It also means I was off on last year's taxes by something like $5, because the K-1 I received in December of 2005 was for 2004, a bit late for me to take it into account when filing 2004's taxes. Hopefully, that won't be enough to get me put in prison.

Happier things:
Saw Mirrormask on DVD, and it was cool. A lot like Neverending story, of course. A LOT like it.

Got Flamekin up to 18th, and took hasten. Proceeded to group with a kinetics defender, who was amazed that I managed to burn through all the extra endurance speed boost could give me so quickly.

Did the math relating to defender whines about high-damage controllers... Fire/Kinetics controllers (THE high damage controller) do credible damage once they get imps and fulcrum shift -- about the same as your average, un-boosted blaster, really. Kinetics defenders do about 20% more, and blasters grouping with a /kin or kin/ do about 150% more. This is AoE damage against six targets -- a small-group (3-5) scenario that lets both controllers and defenders cap damage but doesn't dilute the imps that much. Basically, the best-case for the controller.

(Oh, if you take the more-analogous case of controller vs corruptor (both have 80% secondaries) the controller does 70% of the damage of the corruptor, in return for controller mezzes -- this seems fair considering tanks get about 70% scrapper damage, and are similarly defense-focused instead of balanced)

Of course, the defenders doing the whining explicitly won't be satisfied as long as it's possible for the best controller to do more than 50% of the worst defender's damage. Keep in mind that a very common defender build takes only the single attack they're forced to and doesn't slot it. 9.9
