What fools...
Feb. 27th, 2006 12:05 pmSaturday, I went completely insane, and decided that, since my in-depth analysis* of blaster sets in City of Heroes showed that Archery had the highest single-target DPS, I should make an Archery Blaster. Then I remembered that I HAD an archery blaster, that I hated... so I decided to make another one, with /Devices instead of /Energy (because I have an energy melee stalker already).
I got Linienni up to 8 through a combination of amusingly incompetent sewer-hunting (we couldn't even get ourselves killed!) and small-team street hunting in KR. Sure enough, Flaming Arrow is godawful powerful, even considering its ludicrous 2.67 second activation time. I don't think it's going to get up to the theoretical number, though, because of long animation times that (unlike radiation blast) don't chain well, at least not by default.
The long animation also means that, on a team, it's often 'Illuminate Defeated Foe', same as Mental Blast was.
Single Target
Psychic Blast 2.143
Archery 2.138
Fire 1.797
Sonic 1.685
Ice 1.682
Radiation 1.644
Energy 1.369
Electrical 1.265
Dark 1.092
Assault 0.945

Radiation 0.477
Dark 0.477
Psychic 0.45
Archery 0.448
Energy 0.345
Electrical 0.274
Ice 0.244
Sonic 0.18
Total
Psychic 2.593 good single-target control, no AIM
Archery 2.586 minimal control
Fire 2.303 NO control
Radiation 2.121 minimal control
Ice 1.926 good single-target control, no SNIPE
Assault 1.887 some single-target control, no AIM no NUKE
Sonic 1.865 good AOE and single control, no SNIPE
Energy 1.714 knockback only
Dark 1.569 good AOE control, no AIM
Electrical 1.539 some single-target control, some damage is pet-based
Sunday was supposed to be Tom's game, but no one showed up at Michelle's except for me and Tom. At first, it looked like the day was going to be spent watching Michelle play WoW begging to be powerlevelled (I swear, she asked Tom if he could PL her about six times), but eventually she called a friend over and Tom went and got his special deluxe copy of Settlers of Catan -- the $400, 3d, hand-painted ceramic set.
Tom won, of course. He and I were the contenders because we both had engines of destruction (him, lots of wheat and the wheat port, me lots of rock and the rock port) but mine was all dependant on a single tile ringed with cities, which he kept moving the robber to -- he didn't have a single point of failure like that for me to retaliate against.
Afterwards I went down to Legend's... oh wait, Legend wasn't having people over this time. Sigh. So I went up to Kitsunetaurs', and we played some magic. Apparently, the people there are all into this 'Friday Night Magic' tournament in Renton, so they were testing their tournament decks in duels. YAY! Not a sarcastic yay! I'm sooo sick of multiplayer, and for once I got to duel with people!
The phytohydra deck did surprisingly well -- a lot of people were packing shocks and electrolyzes and pyroclasms, none of which do much to Orcish Artillery.
"This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you. Tap both Orcish Artillery to take out the Niv-Mizzet, and take six damage. Owww."
I headed home early, though... I was soooooo tirrred... I did a little more CoH with Lini, but usually when I get drowsy I can switch to Civ or something and be awake, and this time it didn't work. I decided to take a nap after washing my face in the half hour before I apply the pimple medication... and woke up the next morning. Sigh. Skipping a day shouldn't be that big a deal, though -- it's Retin-A, not antibiotics.
