Did some PVP stuff in CoH last night. Sort of.

First, gladiator combat. The people I went up against weren't *that* horribly awesomely good, but they were better than me, and in particular had 'Night Widows' which used smoke grenades to drop your entire party's accuracy. Three night widows each, by the end, as they realized how damn good they were, and the battle always ended up as Night Widow vs Night Widow (with me not involved since I didn't have any, and all my inferior minions had been slaughtered).

Then, I went to Bloody Bay, planning to run some missions and get the Longbow Warden 2 badge (although that might only be gettable from Warburg, not sure). Instead, I ended up teaming with a stalker to run the BB meteor scavenger hunt mission, which gives you a temp power giant evil monster pet. The mission itself isn't that hard if you do it late at night like we were -- the main danger is interference from the other side. We did run into a scrapper at one of the meteors, who jumped me just as I was getting beaten down by some NPCs... so I teleported away. Not that I was in that much danger, since the only thing they had that could hit me was Focus.

The reason it was late at night is that I installed Civ IV earlier, and played it a bit with all the default settings (which is apparently a pretty easy difficulty, since leaving workers on auto and building settlers mostly when prompted gave me an economy twice the size of the computer players). Seems sort of neat so far... I like the health index to keep cities small at first, instead of the artificial 'can't get bigger without an aquaduct' cap older versions had.
