Had a session of Tom's game... at Michelle's this time. It was really... loud. The kids were running around, mostly being good but occasionally asking questions and watching TV in the next room and all, and the acoustics seemed to magnify everything anyone said and make it hurt the ears.

But I'm complaining more than it really deserves, it was a decent place to play.

The party was mostly out of cash and thus ready to leave the city, but they had to wait for various commissioned items to be completed. They bought a portable hole from a witch near the city (paying the extra to be sure to get a real one and not a 20% chance of a devouring thingie), and Rhiannon continued researching the symbol and all that.

One day, during a carnival, they heard a scream and followed Rhiannon as she ran towards it -- finding a man repeatedly stabbing a woman. They quickly took him down, and handed him over to the guards. But a couple days later, when they were just gettin ready to leave after picking up the last of their stuff, the guards came to find them, telling them that the man had escaped into the sewers, and that none of the guards they'd sent after him had come back. Would the party like to be the next to disappear?

Of course they would! Hours of searching eventually found the creature -- it regenerated, so it couldn't be a man -- and they took him down repeatedly until he finally stayed down long enough for them to tie him up and store him in their portable hole for slow suffocation, since they didn't know what he was or what kind of damage would bypass his regen.

Unfortunately, looking deeper to see if any of the guards were still alive, they found the *real* danger in the sewers -- a massive alligator, forty feet long with a fifteen foot head. After Zanzibar inadvertantly proximity-pulled it, Moran tanked the creature, enlarging to block the hallway, with a freedom of movement to keep it from eating him. Rhiannon chain-healed Morgan, Zanzibar and Raiina poured on the damage, and eventually it was down.

This is what you get when a bunch of (mostly ex-) Everquest players play D+D. }:P

Despite the disbelief of his companions, Zanzibar persisted in cutting open the creature's belly, and eventually managed to find the stomach. To their surprise, the captain of the guard was somehow still alive inside it, although not by much -- it must not have been the sort of creature that does massive damage to the people inside it. There was also plenty of gems, including an ioun stone.

With that mini-quest succesfully completed (and no, the guards didn't pay them, grr) they were ready to leave the city at last, planning to track down the spot in the magical painting.

Afterwards, I went to Legends where I did some trading and playing with Ravnica stuff. I mostly finished the Warp World deck, and even got Warp World off a couple times. In the same game.
