Well, they reshowed the season premiere of Lost last night as well as showing a new episode, so I got to see them both. Although as it turned out, the season premiere was pretty much just setting up mysteries and red herrings for last night's actual episode to resolve, so it wouldn't have been *that* bad. But the start of the premiere was awful creepy!

Before that, I tried to get on CoH to see woodlander and findra, but Findra wasn't on and Woodlander only logged on after I'd already gotten in with an awful team in Steel Canyon, which was a bit high for a level 6 to go wandering about in. Group was only three.

Other blaster: "Let me pull."
Controller, simultaneously, "Die, enemies!" Pulling with fire cages, which worked about as well as you'd expect -- that is, it didn't, but we were able to kill the enemies and keep her from dying.

Other blaster: "Right, that was... fun. This time let me pull."
Controller: "Okay."
...time passes...
Me: "So... are you going to pull?"
Controller (still at half health, since she's been waiting for natural regen to heal her instead of using Rest): "Don't worry about me."
...more time passes...
Controller finally gets to full health, whill Other Blaster hasn't reacted in any way or, you know, pulled, and pulls again, with fire cages. This time she dies, and I have to run away out of the mission.

Me: "Well, that didn't work."
Other blaster: "This... time... LET... ME... PULL!!!!!!!"
Controller: "Fine!" And quits the team.
Other blaster: "I guess 'she' couldn't take constructive criticism."
Me: "Or exasperated yelling."
Other blaster: "I wasn't yelling."
Me: "I counted seven exclamation points."
Other blaster: "You'd think the second time 'she' would have known better."
Me: "Well, the second time I thought you'd dc'd. You waited a very very long time."
Other blaster: "I was waiting for a 'ready' or 'go ahead' or something."
...time passes...
Me: "So... are you going to pull?"

The other blaster pulls, in a relatively sensible fashion, except that he pulled a lieutenant, so the whole group came. But that might have been intentional, since we could certainly take down the whole group -- the reason to pull was that the groups were packed so tightly that we couldn't fight in-place. Afterwards, we rest, do another pull, rest again, then...

Other blaster: "So, 'Li Chen', you're not chinese, are you."
Me: "No... I'm from the Edge of Oblivion. It's just a coincidence it sounds chinese, or whatever you called it. 'Mandarin'?" As described in my character biography.
Other blaster: "Is that in west virginia?"
Me: "Not quite."
Other blaster: "Canada?"
Me: "No, but it's sometimes as cold."
Other blaster: "Are you in VA?"
Me: "... no."
Other blaster: "MN?"
Other blaster: "ME?"
Other blaster: "Montana?"
Me: "Excuse me." And I left the mission, and logged off. What a jerk!

Afterwards, I thought about getting back on to maybe play with, you know, Woodlander and all, but I was feeling rattled and Lost was on. Really, I've never had as many aggravating pick-up-group experiences as I have the three or four times (depending how you count) I've logged on to Infinity. It might just be a bad server.

Anyway, on to the curse. There's a light at 29th Street and 148th avenue NE that I need to turn left at, to take the short route to work. I've been using it daily, for months now, and never, not even ONCE, has the light failed to just turn red as I come up to it, making me wait for the entire cycle. I tried driving fast, driving slow, even running the red at the previous light and speeding, but every time it turns JUST before I get to it, mocking me.

No one else has this problem -- I see people make the light ahead of me all the time. Today, though, I was sure I'd make it. There were two cars just ahead of me, and the way the lights are triggered, they won't usually turn red until there's a large gap between cars. Or, trying to be less superstitious, I could use their instinct for the right speed to use instead of my own, and therefore not go exactly the wrong speed.

But no, the middle car slowed down to turn into a driveway, opening enough of a gap for the light to turn red between the front car and me. Foiled again!

I think I know why the light hates me, though -- I used the shortcut it guards one end of several times (on foot) before it was open for traffic. Now it's determined to get payback.
