It seems like ages since I've played EQ2, even though it was only like three days. At any rate, I got back on last night after work, and worked on a few quests.

There was a nastygram in the in-game mailbox from the guild event organizer, who was bitter that not a single person in the guild had finished any heritage quests over the weekend. Therefore, the deadline (??) was extended to Friday. If we don't get any done by then, well, presumably he'll extend the deadline again. }:P Or just be really disappointed in us.

But my first priority was AQ4, since I wanted to complete it while the things I was killing were still level-appropriate. I stood around in Temple Street searching the world for LFG folks and asking them if they wanted to come to the edgewater drains. Most didn't -- the only people who even know where it is are the ones who accidentally go down there while hunting in the serpent sewers and get eaten (since it's about 5 levels higher at the easiest).

But I got a team, with another scout needing AQ4, and a tank and healer bored enough to try something new and remote. The scout needed *all* of AQ4, though, so we were down there for quite a while getting it for him. Most everyone levelled, and we killed a big named rat for some interesting loot (that I didn't win the lotto for). There were a couple battles that were really touch and go -- like the big rat, who wasn't too tough alone, but spawned in the same area as a ton of lower level ^^ heroics. Three of them popped on us during the fight! Fortunately, they were all level 21, and mostly started out attacking me by default, and I can stand there and let a level 21 chew on my for a very long time before I have to worry about it.

Once I leveled up to 26, some of the critters we were hunting would have been grey if I wasn't in the group, so I got it done just in time.

By the end, we'd walked the length and breadth of the top two levels of edgewater drains (the third had nothing we needed and was guarded by a bunch of nasty-looking flying snakes) and were really, really sick of the sewers.

After helping Tracy transfer an item to Jiffy (and declining to help her chase fairies) I saw that the next AQ was in Nektulos, and a lot of it was hunting solo critters -- crabs and beavers. So I headed out there, and after a dozen beavers or so (I hate them! They run away!) and a rainbow (that gave me... a scrying stone, to replace one of the ones I'd used up) I got in a group hunting ash owlbears for the SBH heritage, which I was on. So I joined them, and we killed hundreds and hundreds of owlbears until we all had 60 chunks of meat, but the rest of the group was quitting before moving on to step two, which was zombies.

The hardest part of the owlbear killing was that our healer was a mystic, and spent the whole time in bear form -- from behind, he looked just like one of the bears we were fighting! Apparently, he was also a friend of Wharfson's. I probably should have remembered his name as someone on at the same time I can pester, but I'm always too shy to actually use a friend's list anyway, so it doesn't matter.

I got in a third extremely temporary group killing Paddlefoot (where I won the only loot, a 'harness of pacification' which was a better belt than I was wearing), and killed a bunch of stupid firebats for 'Targok Pt I', then headed to the beach to get Daisy Winterhope's quest (which is no longer 'access to the enchanted lands', but still exists) so that I could kill crabs for two quests at once... then realized that it was 1am, and I really should sleep.
