terryclothWell, last night Terishaell traipsed over to the Commonlands to meet up with Chikalo and kill some... random things. Stone giants, rhinos, wisps, skeletons. It was interesting to play with all the old druid powers again, most of which had been obsoleted by one thing or another (I had to mentor down to 14 from 24).
Then karma struck:
Afterwards, I went on City of Heroes and played K'teri (my earth controller) some more. It was fun! I was in a small group, herding a dozen or so enemies into an earthquake/volcanic gases trap, which would hold them in place while the warshade cycles his various AoEs and killed them. Got her up to 30, one step closer to 32 when I get pets.
Of course, I log on to LJ this morning and find out that Issue 5 is up on test, and it utterly guts controllers and then pisses on their bleeding corpse. In a nutshell, double recharge and half duration on all control powers (== 25% effectiveness for holds, disorients, and sleeps), and only one pet at a time (== 33% effectiveness for pets). In return, they get double damage on primary powers only. Just in case you were thinking this might be okay overall for, say, illusion controllers, they halved the damage of all controller powers that were primarily intended to do damage (so that the net result is the same damage they ever had), although they didn't announce that in the patch changes.
Fuck them. Fuck them all.
I'm not sure if I'll cancel CoH because of this if it goes live; I still have a blaster that I could play (scrappers were also nerfed heavily). I can't see continuing to play a controller, though.

- I found a lightbringer wisp and started the lightstone quest.
- I finished the second mail run and got a nice bracelet.
- I found a level 25-30 zone for groups (Gobblerocks), although I didn't ahve a group to do it with.
- I got 'bootstrutters tour of the commonlands' off a drop, which gives a nice 10-slot bag. Although I might have to sneak into Freeport to finish it, if it's like the Antonica version.
