Yesterday after work I went on Spindizzy because
chahala was holding a story circle again, for -- as far as I know -- the first time in years. It went pretty well, I thought, and I had time during it to catch up on e-mail and web sites that I'd been neglecting.
woodlander was on, and started talking about various everquest things, so after the circle I decided to try again to start a character on Oasis that I might be able to eventually play with Specks etc., since it didn't seem likely that I would ever play Echaskon again, after seeing the comparison in bugginess between having a pet and being petless.
But of course, I went and made an evil Iksar (fighter) which'll have to betray. I *do* want to do the betrayal quest someday anyway, though. Once. Probably not more than once.
Unfortuantely, it took a couple hours to patch (I like what the patch did, though -- it makes items and skills a lot easier to keep track of), but that just gave me time to watch the season finale of Dr. Who.
Ugh, it was awful. x.x It didn't ruin the series for me or anything, but eeeeurgh! The deus ex machinas came hard and fast, one after another, without any time to rest! Between them, speechifying and heavy-handed pathos!
I had a couple hours after that to actually play EQ2, so I rushed 'Terrix' through the isle of refuge (which, after two proper plays through with Echaskon and Terishaell, I am thoroughly sick of). I could have done it in half the time if I'd realized that you didn't *need* to kill the orc -- I wandered around near his cave for like an hour waiting in vain for one of the other two or three people making new characters late at night to come by needing to kill him, but they never did. Didn't respond to my oocs either. Bastards.
Eventually I gave up and just went to see what the 'failure' text is for the 'can I leave now' quest, only to be unceremoniously dumped in Freeport. Cool.
Then I went to bed.
chahala invited me down to Portland (well, Beaverton) to play board games this Saturday. I have a game on Sunday here, and it takes me about four hours to make the drive (I have people claiming to do it in two, and mapquest says it should take three, but I timed it last time I went down there), so unless I can find someone to bring with me I don't think I'm going to do it. Aside from the time spent driving, there's a very real chance of death if I try to drive down there on my own -- I can't stay awake driving for that long, even with massive amounts of caffeine and sugar.
