Got Litany up to 18, thanks mostly to the Positron Task Force (only six hours this time; the enemies were mostly blue and green. MVP: Freezing rain. Second: *Gale*) and a pick-up group of vastly higher level (20!) that did the cape mission on invincible. There was a party wipe the first time for exactly the same reason my blaster died doing it the first time -- a surprising quantity of mezzers among the enemy troops.
Aside: Freezing Rain kicks ass -- it's the best power in either Illusion or Storm that I've seen so far, hindered only by a short duration. Slow, -DEF, -RES!!! and KNOCKDOWN! Oh, and trivial damage. With stacked Freezing Rains from me and two storm/ defenders the +5 level bosses were going down in seconds. When I get to SO levels, I might want to slot it up until it's perma -- with hasten the debuff from it is already perma against non-resistant enemies, though.
Then they did FrostFire. Ugh. Luckily, it was an old frostfire, so the enemies were 19ish -- we tore through them like paper, but I still got lots of experience. I'm sick of outcasts, I'm sick of ice, I'm even sick of fire imps... the only thing amusing left in Frostfire for me is reminding people 'The law is: no jumping!' when you walk into the first big three-level room (which has an ambush waiting to drop down on you and wipe the party if anyone gets their attention).
So, anyway, 18 means Phantom Army, which is... about like I expected. Nothing like the AC2 beetle, for instance, but they do more damage than I do. It's just that all of it heals back, and then they go away. Probably more valuable in groups than solo. Or maybe less... they're at their best (that is, they actually kill things) when they only have one target to focus on. With them one-slotted, I was *almost* able to kill a +1 level outcast boss. But then they went down with him at a sliver, my first attack failed to kill him, and he started healing back the PA damage faster than I could hope to hurt him, and I had to run away.
They need slots, badly. This is why I'm putting Stamina off until 22. Well, that and the alternative was skipping Freezing Rain, which is not an option as it's my best power.
Anyway, one-slotted PA is not so good for soloing, although it's definately faster killing with them up than with them down. They only last for one fight, really, is the problem, and they're not ready to go again by the time I am.
So I wandered around looking for a group again, and around midnight decided that I just wasn't going to find one, and logged off to play Psychonaughts instead. I'm now in the 'crazy ex-actress's stage' stage. The central puzzle seems to be matching up the right set and mood with the various scripts, altough it's sometimes amusing when you get them wrong:
Razz: "I'd like to see 'The Knight of Joy' again."
"Mother, I am feeling sad. Can you tell me about my dad?"
"He was strong in word and deed, can't you hear his mighty steed?"
[paper knight sails onto the stage... and keeps going, off the other side]
"Yeah, ride on past you deadbeat dad."
It's sad when you finally get the stage set up right so that the play goes off as intended, though... sniffle.
