Last night we had a session of the GURPS Neverwhere game, which is turning rapidly into GURPS Underworld. We all gathered at Lazar's place, where we found that she'd told HIM that it was happening at her place. So we carpooled over.

Stacey (or rather, her brother; I think it's his house, and she crashing there) has twenty million waifish-looking dogs, and at least one insufferably cute cat. The dogs snore. Stacey snores too, but she blames it on the dogs.

Charlie and... er... let's call him 'Sqawking-Bird', since I don't remember his actual name... discussed their goals, and came to an arrangement to trade certain rituals, and cooperate on a plot to bind a powerful spirit and so gain its power for their own purposes. Squawking-Bird wanted to use it to drive away the easterners, since he blamed them for the existence of the Ferals... Charlie professed that he was biding his time on that count and was instead more insterested in getting rid of the Kits, which they were responsible for.

Of course, the Kits had now always been there -- they'd inserted themselves into the time stream as Canadians. Trickster Canadian werewolves, who claimed that they never attacked except in self defense, and yet were somehow always seen killing random people or even wiping out entire tribes...

At any rate, Charlie spent a couple days looking for JR (who seemed to be avoiding people -- the nobles didn't like him, at least not the males), and ran into Dodger, who was now calling herself Windy. Given the change in gender, and the fact that she was now 8 feet tall and a native american ranger, he didn't recognize her, and she went out of her way to avoid giving herself away to him, wary of him since the Front Room had told her that he was the sort of person who'd commit murder.

Dodger had come over after talking to the gun shop owner about the freeze-ray bullet he'd found -- she'd built him a cheap knock-off gun to fire it, verifying that it was a freeze-ray, and told him to go talk to Ames to get pulled through. Apparently, once he... er, she came through, she realized that she had never been a native of the other characters' old world, but to fit in she'd been altered to forget about the other worlds when she travelled there to get a message. Now that she was out of it, and in a world more accepting of magic and mysticism, she regained her memories, including a bunch of skills relating to telepathy.

Charlie approached her, because she was interacting people with a very familiar brand of confusion -- they knew her, but she was only faking knowing them in return. She wouldn't tell him who she was, or at least how he should have known her, but she did say that she was a messenger, looking for JR and Don. He knew how to find Don, so he led her to the lab -- he also wanted to give Don an anti-radiation charm, and make sure that his shielding efforts were working. There were radioactive guard-dogs scattered all around town, and if they weren't shielded (they were somewhat shielded by their armor, at least) all of Athens might be in danger.

Windy gave her message to Don telepathically, and also told him who she was, but not to tell Charlie. They did ask some questions of Enochin [not Anakin, hee] that Charlie overheard, but it didn't really tell him anything useful, except that an ascension ceremony was happening in two days to make a new noble.

The nobles were vampires. This was something all of them had discovered previously, Charlie by attending one of the 'feeding ceremonies' and finding out that it involved donating blood. The ferals, of course, were also vampires, but they tended to suck out ALL your blood, and sometimes turn you into another feral... protection against Vampirism was the primary charm the other shaman had wanted from Charlie, perhaps to sneak up to the temple to watch the new noble being created, as Charlie and the others were contemplating.

Talking about radiation, however, interested Enochin in Charlie's claim to be able to see it with a spell. The robot asked Charlie if he could cast the spell on others, so Charlie cast it on him... and he panicked, started ejecting his fuel rods, panicked MORE, split into four pieces, and ran off. Charlie (who had an anti-radiation charm, at least) kicked the exposed rod around behind a pile of metal junk to help shield them, and they looked around for where the bits had gotten to.

Two of the pieces were easily retrived. One was across the street, banging its, er, front into a wall, and another was inert, as its power source had been ejected. The important parts, including the head, had run off more effectively, though.

It was getting dark, but rescuing Enochin from his own irrational panic was important enough to set out regardless. The three of them tracked a piece over the city 'wall' (a three-foot wide patch of barbed wire, meant to keep out wolverines), but as they leaped over the wall, darkness fell -- sudden, unnatural darkness, and they heard ferals attacking the nearby nobles, as a Kits started to taunt them from the darkness, wondering why they cared SO MUCH about Enochin.

Don got a lucky hit firing blinding into the dark with his laser-shotgun -- which survived the Kits' counterattack, as it tried to use fire on the fireproof barrel -- but it was Windy's telepathy that put the kits into a coma. The circled around the useless cloud of stench Charlie had tried to put up as a barrier, and made their way to where they thought Enochin's head was... and the darkness lifted, leaving them standing over the body of a dead Noble, with several other Nobles around looking on.

"Where's the kits?" Charlie asked loudly, looking around. Ames and the other nobles present leapt up to examine the body, which had obviously not been killed by them, since it was dead of claw-wounds and not gunshots or telepathy or lasers.

"You'd better go back and get underground," Ames told them.

"Okay... but they have Enochin."
