No one in this company uses actual mail, except legal. Legal, fortunately, doesn't send messages to us that often, and when they do they *usually* send e-mail, so let's say that, for practical purposes, no one uses paper mail.

This means the mail room is usually deserted. It has a little alcove, where there used to be a door to the fax room before it was bricked over for security purposes, where you're out of sight of the hallway, and can see a sliver of sky out the window, over the racks of unused mail slots.

When I'm feeling stressed, I sometimes like to go sit in that alcove and stare at the sky, because it's nice to be alone when I'm stressed, and locking myself in my office usually just bottles me in near the source of my stress, which is almost always the damn computers. I also do it when I'm just bored, or anxious about what I have to do next, or the like.

But now, even when I'm *not* planning to go in there and take a break, I feel possessive and territorial about the mail room, and find myself glowering at people going in to actually check their mail. How dare they!
