Sep. 21st, 2004 01:52 pmI woke up early this morning, after a dream about first-person shooters. Sort of.
In the dream, I'd installed a new game (I think I might have stolen it or something) that was supposed to be the last word in first-person shooters AND action games in general -- mech games, role-playing, deathmatches, it did it all! AND it was all online, with your home games automatically published to the internet for other people to join in on!
But the menu system to set up a new game, while it *looked* simple, was so finicky and laggy that I literally could never manage to get a simple game started that featured both (a) me and (b) one or more 'NPCs' == bots. I spent all night wrestling with it.
Other than that, it was a neat game.
Anyway, once I woke up, after getting out of the shower, there was a knock at my apartment door -- the Finder books I'd ordered over a month ago finally showed up. I was suprised to get them today, since I'd only heard back from them yesterday. 'Speed' responded, apologizing profusely for basically forgetting about the whole publishing business for a month, just after I'd finally given up all hope of ever getting them.
Obviously, someone's messing with me.
BUT, I have the books now, and after work I'll even get to READ them. Yay!
