(or at least, that's what the marketing campaign says)
Night before last, I installed XP SP2 on my laptop. It took 8 hours. 8 hours!
Unfortunately, I didn't start it right after getting home -- I waited until 8 or 9 or whatever when I logged on to read web comics. So I was up until 3am waiting for it -- well, and doing other stuff, of course, but I was only *awake* because I was hoping to finish with it.
The cruel part was when, at 2:30am, it finished downloading, and started 'verifying'. Really, really slowly. Eventually, I had to leave it on and just go to sleep and finish up in the morning.
I haven't noticed anything much different with it, other than that they made some of the security features more visible. It didn't kill any of my net apps, or crash a lot, or anything like that.
I *was* getting a 'low on disk space' warning after installing it, but I think that was a coincidence -- apparently, I'd somehow accumulated 3 gigs of crap in my temp directory. WTF?
