terryclothI found out what the annoying repeating 'whirr. Whirr. WHIRRRR.' noise that wakes me up in the morning sometimes is -- it's the damn car wash kittycorner across the intersection I live near. I was hoping it was construction or something, and therefore temporary, but no such luck.
My apartment complex has been under constant construction since the new management took over. In January. Now, they're tearing up the perfectly good landscaping to put in new, almost identical landscaping. I saw one of the squirrels hopping through the cedar chips, looking for something to eat. Poor thing. I hope they don't cut down the big tree near my window; I like the tree better than any view I'd have without it. I think I'd be able to see the car wash.
All the construction means rules on where to park and where not to park that shift daily. We get them in blocks of a week at a time, given in somewhat cryptic notes taped to the door. Usually, 'up against the east fence' is okay, but once or twice I've messed up and ended up with my car under a tarp.
My insurance company sent a form for me to fill out asking for the current odometer reading and the estimated yearly mileage. They have the initial reading, so can't they figure that out on their own? At any rate, I called three places that refused to help (it wasn't in their system, so they'd have to go look up the physical documents) before finally just going out to my car to get the initial reading from the contract, which I shoved in the glove compartment as I drove off the lot, and haven't looked at since.
It turns out I'm averaging 8660 miles per yer instead of 7500, which means my insurance will be going up. Trips to Lex's and my sister's are the likely culprit; I was averaging about 5000 a year with the Neon (it had 40k on it after 8 years when it died), and those are the two *new* trips I've been taking on any sort of regular basis.
