Is there any escape from noise?

Not in my apartment, recently. Between people tramping about on the roof, the garbage hut being moved outside my window, 'tree removal' (chainsaws), the garbage bin in the drug store across the street being emptied constantly, and the loud traffic from NE 8th, I can barely hear myself think, from about 9am to 8pm every day.

Most of this is supposedly temporary, but DAMN, they've been renovating this stupid apartment building since January.

And what's up with the people who were testing their car alarm for two hours last night? WOO-ooo-OOO-ooo-OOO-boopboop. [pause] WOO-ooo-OOO-ooo-OOO-boopboop. [repeat until death]
