Last night we had a session of the Stargate kinda-Shadake game. Since there wasn't any combat, it was actually mostly Shadake this time. We wandered about trying to figure out what was going on, and to get some money, and it looks like we succeeded on both counts.

Wandering outside the city left Theta Team in the middle of a bunch of farmland. They talked to some people on the road, and a local farmer, and were told that basically NOBODY ran the city: since the gods were all killed, the mages and priests and merchants all thought they were in charge. Also, no matter what they said they were looking for, they were directed to the city to get it.

So eventually, they headed back to the city. Carmine revealed that at some point she'd managed to pickpoket a pouch off someone, and Kyrae suggested they find some gambling and work it up into to enough money to talk to the mages, who were said to know everything but charge a lot for the privelege of tapping that knowledge. So they wandered into an alleyway, and let a shady-looking character lead them to an underground Casino. JT tried to sneak in invisibly (to make sure it wasn't an ambush), but the bouncer could see him anyway. And just warned him not to use being invisible to cheat.

So, gambling. Nuki mostly gambled randomly and lost money, JT used his animal empathy to tell which of the weasels on the weasel-track was drugged to win, Kyrae cheated at cards, and Carmine lost all her money at dice, in order to win the sympathy of a rich alien gentleman who she took into the private backrooms and robbed.

Kyrae (who was a pervert) and Nuki (who was drunk on a hallucinogenic drink JT had given him as an experiment) decided that sleeping with alien prostitutes looked like fun, and took off as well. JT considered trying to get pregnant with an alien baby (they'd heard that all the various alien species were all the same race and able to interbreed, and he wondered if they could breed with *anything*) but Carmine examined the 'DNA sample' they'd collected and decided they were just shapeshifters of some sort.

At any rate, it was nightfall by the time they left the place, laden down with ill-gotten gains. Luckily, they'd been subtle enough about it -- the bulk of the winnings were compensation from another customer who'd been sure Kyrae was cheating and had tried to attack him -- that the Casino didn't send anyone to rough them up.

Most of the stores were still open, though, so they wandered around learning the prices of various things and looking for trade opportunities. Suddenly, a dark green portal, much like the one they'd arrived through, opened overhead! JT sent a radio signal at it, and listened for a reply, but there was nothing, and before they could fly up to examine it more closely it closed.

But flying up towards it attracted the attention of a mage, who agreed to Kyrae's suggestion of an information exchange. He led them to a 'private meeting chamber' at the bottom of the 'magically' opened trench in the lake that the whole middle of the city was located in. The 'magic' holding the walls up was apparently a VERY strong EM field -- strong enough to really really irritate the Nimune, and the privacy device was even worse. Nuki slumped in a chair, feeling seasick, but the others were able to tolerate it, at least.
