Well, I went to the Sunday Gather yesterday with not only the new 5th Dawn magic decks in tow, but also my T2 rares and uncommons for trade.

I arrived early, a little before noon, forgetting that with Darter gone for the summer there really wasn't anyone else I could be sure would actually show up that early... fortunately, Zir and Omen got there before I was finished eating, bringing with them Fluxx. We played a bunch of games, and since it didn't have the horrible 'Stoner Fluxx' expansion (which ruins the game), it was pretty fun. At least three times, Zir called out to someone 'come play with us!' and they said 'but I don't know how to play!' which, for Fluxx, is NO EXCUSE, because (as she demonstrated) it takes ten seconds to learn. Well, 30 if you're stupid, and five minutes if you're distracted and keep turning to talk to someone else, but that only happened the once.

After a big I got sick of Fluxx, though, and went to play Magic with a couple people (Mickle and Tiko?) that I didn't really know. My two TIMMAY! decks (red/green elementals and dragons, and the sunburst deck) were unreasonably effective, although they didn't win *every* time. I also played my machine deck -- the myr deck I was talking about earlier -- and even though it's one of the weakest of the new decks, I got a ludicrously optimal draw and quickly slaughtered all opposition in a three player game. It's not supposed to do that.

Then we had to rush off to see Chronicles of Riddick, which was just COOL. Calling it a sequel to Pitch Black is silly, because there's no reason it HAD to be a sequel, and the references to Pitch Black could easily have been to some unspecified events in the mysterious past without really changing anything. It was cool, though, because the movie was just set up to present a sequence of neat scenes and actions and effects. The plot was also surprisingly deep... although it's easy to miss the moral if you're not paying attention, and the bulk of the movie (by volume) WAS just 'neat things and ultraviolence'.

Afterwards I headed down to Lex's place, as per the plan -- I'd brought my trade stock because he wanted to trade. I traded a few cards with Slox and Morphy, but Lex was the one who went crazy trading for everything... he took my Mycosynth Lattice, Door to Nothingness, and some Fabricates, and actually managed to kill someone with Door to Nothingness, after replacing the swarms of Myr with talismans and ingots -- Myr were too prone to getting timmed, which he found intensely frustrating.

His reaction to finally getting off the Door to Nothingness and then getting pinged to death (it was a three player game) was SO stereotypically 'Johnny'. To use the official MTG persona terminology.

So I traded a bunch, played lots and lots of magic, cuddled a bit with Slox, mostly, and then reluctantly headed home, since I had to work today. I did pretty much everything I set to do, and some things I didn't really thing would come up, like the movie, and Fluxx. Good day, definately.
