Excitement!
Mar. 24th, 2004 03:44 pmOr at least, bone-chilling wind. An 'emergency' alarm just went off in the building, sending all of us scrambling for the exits to wait near the designated evacuation spots. People weren't sure if it was a drill or not, so actually followed instructions (raggedly and gradually) and went to more or less the right location, just in case it *was* a drill and we were being tested.
"WHOOOOP! Emergency. An emergency has been reported. There is an emergency going on. Please proceed to the nearest exit stairwell or building lobby. Do not use the elevator. Walk to the nearest stairwell. Do not use the elevator. Walk to the nearest stairwell. Do not use the elevator. Walk to the nearest stairwell."
Some of us, like me, were in the bathroom instead of in our offices, though, and ended up out there without a coat. It wasn't so bad when the wind was still (otherwise I'd have taken the extra time to go get my coat) but every time the wind blew... brrr.
It also struck me that the evacuation plan lined all of us up in fireball formation near a busy street. Made me kind of nervous, to tell the truth, but no suicide bombers attacked us this time.
