So, there was a gathering at Crossroads, like there is every Sunday, and which I go to every other Sunday. Talked with some people, most notably Havoc who is apparently a professional Magic the Gathering player, in the sense that he's on a team that buys a case of each expansion, trades heavily for the good cards, and competes around the world in Magic tournaments.

I also played some magic, but not with him.

Afterwards, since Legend's place is out of business and Teeka and SR were busy entertaining family, I went with a bunch of people to Seattle to visit a toy store and see movie. Parking was a hassle -- they recommended I park at a meter, but that meant parallel parking, and not only does that SUCK but I suck doing it. The parking garages were all really expensive -- $6 per hour expensive in the one I first went in, and we didn't even know how long we'd be parked there.

So I let most of the passengers out (I somehow got assigned a full complement of four) and with only Zir for moral support went looking for a spot on the street. I found one, but it was half hour parking only, and it was on a hill which made trying to park in it... tense -- since the Civic's engine switches off whenever you stop, backing up the hill meant almost hitting *both* cars. I had to wave off well-meaning assistants just to abort -- I didn't feel safe moving the car at all with someone standing closer than two feet.

Just down the hill from there was a lot with reasonable evening parking rates, though ($5 for 10 hours), and thus ended the parking saga. This is why I don't go to Seattle often.

The toy store was kind of 'eh'. It had a bunch of plushies, but nothing I really liked except for a few Folkmanis dragons. Certainly nothing I'd pay money for. A couple other people bought some, and we played with some of the other toys, like the voice-changing loudspeaker.

Afterwards, we headed down to the waterfront because we had some extra time. Lex had us stop at a McDonalds because he wanted a drink, and Very Large Furry ordered a full meal and wanted to stop and eat it. He was nudged along until we got to a nicer spot to stop and feed the seagulls food we stole from him, though. I think they got a full box of french fries.

Zir then led us up the secret elevators to the Pike Place Market. One of them was broken, but she knew an emergency backup... but only three of us took it, and we lost track of the others that took the stairs. We were getting worried that they might have gone and left us (or at least, I was) and split up to search, and of course they found us while I was off almost getting locked in the lower levels as they closed.

But we got to the theater just as the movie was starting, bought some tickets, and headed upstairs. 'Dawn of the Dead'. Lots of zombies, a shopping mall, and a stupid ending. Overall a pretty good movie, though. Lex said the best part was that the mall where most of it took place was named 'Cross Roads'.

Very Large Furry sat next to me and took up about half my seat, but he was tall enough that it didn't really matter, since his arm was about level with my chest when it was down and resting. It was a little annoying that he kept getting up to go get more popcorn and drinks.

Afterwards there was some confusion. Zir and Havoc and I wanted to go to Teeka's place (since she said it was okay to have a few people over when Zir called), but the other two cars going to Bellevue were one seat short, and in particular the one that hadn't left yet was a pickup truck with absolutely no ability to add an extra person. After a lot of dithering and drama, we compromised by kidnapping one person at random, namely Very Large Furry whose name I really SHOULD know, but all I keep coming up with is 'Grrwolf' which can't be right since he's a fox. Anyway, we kidnapped him off to Teeka's with us, promising to get him home reasonably quickly.

Fortunately, it was late enough at night that I found some free street parking without hardly looking for it. Thank god for small favors!

Teeka and SR were really wiped out when we got there, but seemed to perk up at the company. They talked about their day of shopping, and network encryption, and an upcoming trip to see SR's family again for some reason, and a lot of foxish silliness. But after not all that long, I had to leave to take Very Large Furry back to Legend's, where he was staying while he's in the city (apparently, he's from Portland, which means he CAN'T be Grrwolf because I know he's local).

We got a little lost trying to find the freeway, and after trying to follow some signs ended up on the express lanes. But there was an exit from there to the U-District, and I knew how to get back on I-5 properly from the U-District, at least.

So I dropped him off, and... went home. Whee!
