After the game yesterday, I went skulking about trying to find the after-gathering crowd, or at least some part of it. I went to Legend's first, but when I got there I was too shy to go up and knock on the door -- this would be the third time in a row that I'd knocked on his door to find he wasn't having people over after all, and as everyone knows when you lose your third life it's GAME OVER.
So instead, I skulked about in his yard, peering in through his windows, to see if anyone was in there. I could hear that the TV was on, but through the tiny openings in the blinds it didn't look like anyone was there at all -- no signs of movement, nothing that looked like part of a human body. I couldn't see clearly, though... I must have spent two minutes trying to peer through the tiny holes, and still wasn't sure.
But I figured that by that point I'd taken twenty, and that I'd go with my gut instinct and RUN AWAY!
So I ran to Tasho's, where I arrived just as everyone was leaving to go over to Legend's. Or something. I missed that flotilla, though, since I was enthralled (along with Flamey and Odius) watching Tasho kill off nuisance monsters in the newbie yard with a new character in Everquest. Somehow, we decided to watch Cats.
Cats was just as boring as I remembered it being, although quite a bit shorter -- apparently, on the previous watch-through, I hadn't slept through as much as I'd assumed. It did have a couple songs I liked (Jellicle Songs For Jellicle Cats, and the song about Jennyanydots) but they were right at the beginning... the whole rest of the play was pure tedium, interrupted only by a few clever lines (like where they took a pun too far and started going on about Macavity's powers of levitation) and sight-gags (Rumpus Cat's hair! Hee hee) and some comments by the peanut gallery (Flamey was convinced that Rum Tum Tugger was gay).
So of course, the song I can't get out of my head now is 'Magical Mister Mistoffeles', which had none of those. Grrrgh,
