Cool down

Aaanyway, after the annoyance with CoV, I decided to go get an assortment of hard liquor and get really drunk. Un/Fortunately, the nearest liquor store was closed -- apparently they keep bank hours. I hadn't paid attention to where any of the others were, since that one was so close to my apartment... and besides, what I really had a craving for was cheese.

But I didn't get cheese. I managed to get back home without buying anything, and watched Inu Yasha and Lost, then played through Gitaroo Man, because it really is a lot of fun to play every once in a while. And it's pretty easy, on the default difficulty.

Spent the last hour or so before bed working on a story, although I didn't exactly make progress -- I deleted the last half of the chapter I was working on and rewrote it entirely.

I had a succession of nightmares that night, in bed... in one, I dreamed I was a superhero )

As they were taking the villain away, he gloated that I'd been too late, and that he'd already eaten my mother and father and best friend, which was true. So I beat him to death with a metal pipe.

The other nightmares were less complex, involving things like 'cleaning up after farm animals' and 'getting a massage'.

Work is awful. Is there anything more stressful than a 1-on-1 with your boss's boss where he tells you that you've been doing a great job, that the team really needs you, and that you should look on the website where they describe the career paths so that you can work towards another promotion?

When you know you've been sucking? How can I interpret this other than 'you're not doing your job, but we don't dare fire or demote you right now because of all the turnover that we also spent a lot of time talking about -- look at the career site and shape up'?

Anyway, got home and played CoV, and it was a lot more fun this time, because we fought white things instead of red things. Better XP, too.

Basically, these people read the power-levelling guide where it says the best XP is from fighting +2s and miss the part where THE REST OF THE PARTY IS 2 LEVELS HIGHER THAN YOU. It's better XP if you're LEECHING. *sigh*

I think I recognize what's up, though -- my Corruptor is basically a blaster (since I dislike my secondary), so I hate reds, just like my real blaster hates reds. It's not fun to be a damage dealer and have your damage reduced by 60% or 80% or whatever the ratio is.

I forgot to get booooze again today. Well, not 'forgot' exactly -- was too lazy to face the extra traffic.
