Sunday Fripperies
Sep. 19th, 2005 09:55 amPlayed a lot of magic yesterday... in the morning I did some city of heroes, and by the time the meet came around I had a splitting headache -- the kind that seems to originate from my teeth, but is only relieved by somehow getting rid of pressure building up in my gut. Or by taking painkillers. Eventually, I did the latter.
There were some new people at the Southcenter gathering, including another magic player. Java was there also, and joined in on the game, kind of -- he insisted he was trying to get himself killed so that he could go with Cal et al to look at motorcycles. Whatever that means.
At Legend's, for most of the night a bad Chinese-subtitled version of Wolf's Rain was on. The subtitles were in english, but you could tell they were translated badly by a non-native speaker, presumably Chinese since that's what the primary subtitles were. We alternated between playing magic and laughing at the subtitles (well, I did, other people had a different mixture, for example sitting in the backyard doing magic spells with rocks alternated with sneaking off into the back room and... giggling a lot) until Legend put on an actual movie. 'The Day After Tomorrow'.
After that I went home early, because I was feeling oogy. Or, well, I said I was going home, someone begged me to stay for the movie, I took some painkillers, and they kicked in fully about the time the movie had ended, but I was already leaving. Ahwell.
When I got home I watched the new episodes of Full Metal Alchemist (good), Inu Yasha (okay), and Naruto (bad). I tend to be suspicious when people say the dub/translation 'ruined' a series, but everyone who's watched the original seems to like Naruto, and I don't see how anyone could like the version that the cartoon network is showing...
