New Kids on the Block

So, the monday game started up again today, with Patrick GMing instead of Jeff (or Ed, or me, or Dave -- we've been kind of swapping around, I guess).

Fill Her Up

Sting still has some good songs in him. This one in particular (off Brand New Day, which I guess isn't really that new anymore) was suprising in that it was *better* once I actually understood the lyrics -- a lot of songs go on partial understanding and the implication of mystery to get their charge.

It's a song about a gas station attendant who sees a 'big shot from the city' taking his girlfriend to Vegas to get married, and decides to steal the station's cash box so that he can do the same for his girl. This part's basically country music.

Only, before he gets far his conscience starts speaking to him, and that's basically the second half of the song, in an entirely different tone and melody and everything.

That's one of the themes that tends to affect me strongly, I guess -- redemption? But more specific than that, someone going along the Wrong Path but realizing the error of his ways all on his own, before he does any damage. Anyone can look at a disaster they caused and realize they made a mistake, after all.

Anyway, that's the song that's been in my head all day.
