Steel bird, pretty bird, carry me home...
Wait a second, airplanes aren't made out of steel, are they? Aluminum doesn't scan, though.
Metal bird, shiny bird, carry me home!
So, I flew back. The landing was extra scary because the pilot came in extra low and extra slow. I think that means he was doing a good job? It was scary, though, because it didn't seem like there was anything holding us up.
The only hitch getting home was that my cell phone was dead (the battery ran out because I'd prioritized charging the ipod and game boy), so I couldn't call my mom and tell her I was okay. But it wouldn't take that long to get home, even with the errands I had to do on the way (restart mail delivery, get the accumulated comics from the shop, check the office for packages).
Except that when I got home, I found out my long distance had been cancelled. I don't know why -- I hadn't made any calls with it in ages (since I'd gotten the cell phone), and it was a plan with no fee unless I make calls, so they hadn't even been sending me bills. Maybe they figured it was a dead account or something?
Plugging in the phone let it turn on, but it died again when I tried to make a call -- apparently, actually calling someone uses up juice faster than the battery can charge. I eventually did get a call out to her, after going out for dinner by myself, and mom wanted to chat about nothing over long distance. x.x
Oh, well. It feels so good to be back in the proper time zone, at least. I swear, the instant I set my watch back I was cured of jet lag.
