Movies, pizza, tanukis
Aug. 22nd, 2005 02:49 pmSaw Valiant yesterday. It was kind of... not good. Basically, take the most generic WWII propaganda flick you can imagine and play it completely straight. Oh, there were a few jokes inserted here and there, I guess, and the obligatory drawn-out chase/fight sequence at the end, but the jokes weren't especially good, and the fight scene ended in an anticlimax. Here's a hint -- when the chase *starts* with them buzzing entire fleets of human-scale battleships and *ends* with the falcon getting spanked repeatedly by a bizarrely pigeon-scale waterwheel... sigh.
I also... hmm... washed my clothes? No, that was Saturday. Have to note it, though, since I promised to record every time I did the laundry the last time I did laundry. I wasn't quite out of underwear yet, but I figured I should have actually clean clothes before I go visit my mother.
Right after Valiant was the Southcenter gathering. Skykit et al picked a strange table to sit at, way away from where we normally sit, and I had trouble finding them -- was about ready to give up and leave, in fact, when I ran into Legend and Cal and *they* spotted the rest. D'oh. Skye got a jean jacket, which is so unlike him that it acts as nearly perfect camoflauge.
Back at Legend's, later, it was revealed that Disney released Pom Poko on DVD, reportedly unedited (but 'not recommended for children' due to all the tanuki balls). So that was what they watched. I wanted to watch it, but was stuck playing magic over and over and over -- I think Kitsunetaur was magic deprived or something. I missed the whole movie. Sniffle.
But, it's out on DVD, so I suppose I can go buy a copy to not get around to watching in the discomfort of my own home.
Wasn't a total waste, though -- I mean, I don't play magic often, and I got plenty of cuddles in with various people (but mostly Slox). The fools sent me out to get pizza, though.
Me: "What do we normally order, again?"
Kitsunetaur: "Oh, a garlic chicken special and an all-meat with chicken instead of sausage."
Me: "That's... not what we normally order. And ick, all meat?"
So I got a garlic chicken, a veggie lovers (out of revenge) and a standard pepperoni becuase everyone other than me loves pepperoni. Don't get me wrong -- pepperoni pizza is great. Papa Murphy's pepperoni sucks ass, though. Legend was dismayed at my choices, predicting large amounts of everything-but-pepperoni left over, but the garlic chicken turned out to be as popular as the pepperoni.
No one ate the veggie, though, and I ended up taking it home. I had some for breakfast this morning, and it was not very good reheated, so I think the rest is getting tossed after all. Ick.
The moral of the story: Revenge (pizza) is NOT best served cold.
