There's no character more fun to solo with in City of Heroes than a blaster. There aer plenty that are more *effective*, but they're boring.

Unfortunately, there's also no character less fun to group with. At least with bad pick up groups. So last night, after a couple close calls and one death, our whole group 'got a call on the other line' or 'had to take care of the kids' or (in my case) 'said enough of this and quit the group'.

Couldn't find another group the whole night. Eventually, even though it's kind of fun as a blaster, I got sick of soloing, and decided to try to install Everquest II. I'm not sure whether or not this was a good idea.

Good:
  • It's a new MMO (to me), and the novelty usually carries it for a while.
  • Other people I know are playing it still, at least last time I checked.

Bad:
  • It's likely to either whither before or kill my enthusiasm for the other MMO I'm playing.
  • I'm not sure I really want to play with people I know.
  • The patch will, apparently, take thirty hours to download.

And in the meantime, I certainly can't play city of heroes. Although there's a game tonight anyway, so I probably wouldn't be playing before 1am tonight, when it's scheduled to be finished updating, barring disconnection.

But leaving the computer on all night hasn't left me entirely awake... especially with the strangely seasonable heat, I kept waking up randomly every hour or two. And when I didn't, I dreamed of EQ2. Not *playing* it, mind you -- installing it. In my dream, to get the install key you had to assemble a sticker-puzzle whose pieces were concealed throughout the manual and accompanying ads, which meant some dumpster diving was necessary since I throw the ads out right away...
