After a grueling Town Meeting with the VP of our division, which I can't really talk about, my team headed up to Kirkland for our monthly team lunch. For once, everyone showed up -- I think that's a first.
I rode up there in Derek's car, and he and Natasha were talking the whole way about Kirkland, where they both live... I tried to participate in the conversation, but it didn't really work out. Sort of uncomfortable.
The restaurant 'Cactus' was a 'yuppie tex mex' place, that was really expensive and not very good. The chips were stale, the food was dry and flavorless... the drinks were good, at least. Natasha revealed that that was the whole reason she'd picked the place -- she liked their Mohitos.
At the end, the bill came to $19 per person (!!), so we each put in a 20 and called it good. Except that Natasha made the waitress run to the bank to get change for a 20 so she could give it back to people. Except that it then turned out that we were $15 short of where we should have been, because someone did the math and decided they didn't need to contribute. So all the 1s got given right back to the restaurant after all. Ha ha! Joke's on you, waitress person!
Natasha and I don't really get along, which is bad because we sometimes have to work together. Every time she talks to me, in person or through e-mail, I get the impression that she's gritting her teeth. To be fair, every time I talk to her, in person or in e-mail, I'm sort of mentally gritting my teeth, because I anticipate her displeasure.
It's probably just feeding off itself at this point -- I think it started when she entered a whole bunch of invalid bugs, which annoyed me, so I resolved them all 'not repro' or 'duplicate' which looks bad on her record, instead of fudging them as 'fixed, no change' like I might for someone I like enough to give the benefit of the doubt.
So I guess you could say she's my arch-enemy, if only by default.
