I dreamed about Pompoko. The version in the dream was even more depressing than the movie, in a way... it was basically Pompoko as told by Disney, where the main bad guy was this professional Tanuki exterminator with a nerve-gas spraying gun.

All the Tanuki kept running around just out of range and taunting him, while I was yelling at them not to get so freaking close, because they kept screwing up and getting sprayed and dying. Finally, I decided to poison the guy's car with his own poison, but what I thought was the vial of poison turned out to be a big jar of olive oil, so it just ended up being another stupid tanuki prank.

After Comcast reset the cable box last night, I decided to test it out by giving it a complicated series of recording to do that night, on multiple channels with channel switches required and everything... then, since I wanted to actually get the recording, I made sure that nothing was recording within two hours in either direction of the Battlestar Galactica episode I actually wanted to see.

This morning, I turned on the box to check, and everything I'd had it record last night was there. It hadn't crashed or anything. Yay! I doublechecked that the recording I wanted was still scheduled, and went to work.

I just got home to find out that the box hadn't crashed. It was, in fact, in the process of recording Stargate SG-1. But... can you guess?

Yeah, it hadn't recorded Battlestar Galactica.

I'm at a loss, really. At this point, I have to put it down either to 'mischievous gremlins', 'time-travel related paradox-avoidance', or 'digital rights management'. At least it looks like I'll be able to watch the VERY LAST reshowing of the pilot episodes live... if I'm willing to stay up until 3am.
